Difference between Italian and American suits

The word suit implies a set of garments, all of which are made from the very same cloth. The work suitability, as well as the social aptness of these suits, is the determining factor in terms of designs, cloth, and cut. There are many variations like a single or double-breasted and either a three-piece suit or a two-piece suit. Most of the suits are customized as per the wishes of the customer. Each country has its unique style in suiting which becomes synonymous with that region. American suits are generally more casual in their styling. The shoulder padding is reduced and moderate. The tapering of the sides is minimal and there is one single vent.

In contrast to this, the Italians have a very different style of suits. In most cases the overall proportion and cut of the suit is such that it appears in to form an inverted V. The most prominent feature in Italian suit is the presence of accentuated shoulders. The padding in the shoulder is more than in most other countries. Nearer to the waist, the suit tends to taper with it being close to the body near the hips. The Italian cut style is ideal for a body structure which is neither too slim nor otherwise full.

The Italian and American cut differ from each other only in terms of the cut of the coat. The Americans prefer a more casual suit with lesser padding in the shoulder and minimal side tapering. The Italians prefer a different style. The Italian suit is well padded in the shoulder and tapers steeply towards the waist.
